The youngest, but most spirited new “Cats” course is the award-winning Leopard’s Chase located in Ocean Isle, North Carolina. Named by Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine as one of the “Top 10 Best New Public Courses in America for 2007″, Leopard’s Chase is truly with many distinguishing characteristics.
This is a Tim Cate creation with a brilliant use of the natural and man-made water features that appear throughout the entire layout. Featuring magnificently manicured L-93 bentgrass greens, this masterpiece is truly a vision to behold. Leopard’s Chase is graced with scenic landscapes, scattered with native grasses and planting, including preserved wetlands, creating a series of picturesque vistas spread out over 220 acres of natural coastal terrain.
One of the two signature holes is highlighted on the front 9 is the par 4 fifth hole with its “island” green style highlighted with pearl-white sand creating a large waste bunker that stretches 90 yards into the fairway. Golfers of all levels love this hole and is a highlight on the course. The final hole at the par four 18th will make a splash in the golfing community. This hole moves slightly leftward to an elevated green that is surrounded by a man-made waterfall that cascades water down a wall of coquina boulders. This hole is not only challenging but beautiful and an excellent way to end your golf game.
The clubhouse at Leopard's Chase is equipped with pro shop and snack bar, and practice facilities are comprehensive with a grass range, short game area with sand bunker, plus putting green. If you need some extra lessons or advise from a pro, make plans to take lessons at the Nick Bradley Golf Academy, providing onsite, world-class golf instruction.
